We took an excursion to a small town on the coast today. It was pretty low-key and there wasn’t any major drama to write about, so I’m going to return to the topic of food. The most amazing thing we discovered was that the French have figured out how to make meringues the size of small footballs. Seriously, none of those wimpy golf-ball-sized treats you find at Trader Joes, these things are gigantic. We bought a raspberry one at a patisserie and saved it for dessert (after our dinner of french fries and galettes of course). Even after all 3 of us had as much meringue as we needed, there was still more than half of it left. I expect we’ll be nibbling on it for days.
